<image:title>Blog - Lesson on unity from little league - It was opening day for Little League baseball in my neighborhood this past weekend.</image:title>
<image:caption>Kids wearing crisp red, blue and yellow uniforms met at freshly groomed ball fields where umpires and parents had gathered to watch them play. This familiar scene played out across the country where there is a predictable pattern to what happens next. Two teams compete with one another over a specific number of innings. Umpires officiate, parents cheer and a winner is determined based on which team scored more runs. But once in a while something unusual and important happens. If one of the teams shows up without enough players to field a team, they will forfeit the game. This kind of thing never happens in Major League Baseball for obvious reasons, but in Little League you never know who might have an orthodontist appointment, SAT prep or a visit with grandparents that takes priority over the game.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - The secret ingredient to building unity in an ‘us’ versus ‘them’ world - Many of us are struggling as we watch the unjust invasion of Ukraine. We wish for peace and feel helpless as we read the news each day. My solution to US versus THEM gaps is to inspire people to look for divides in their own lives and take action to narrow those gaps. Last week, after I posted about taking action, something unexpected happened. I got a message from a person I’ve worked with in the past who has family in Ukraine. She asked me if I had attended a rally to support Ukraine in NYC where I live. Her question prompted me to investigate and then attend a rally a few days later in Times Square where thousands of people wearing blue and yellow showed up. I saw signs with flags from France, Peru, Israel, and Russia – all showing solidarity with Ukrainian people.</image:title>

To thrive in the global marketplace teams must learn to work across differences of age, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status and many other identity factors. Kriska teaches leaders in any organization how to prevent Us versus Them culture clashes by promoting inclusion in their organizations to increase employee retention and productivity and to prevent misunderstandings that lead to lost time and increased legal risk. Kriska offers a practical roadmap at a time when stakeholders at all levels – investors, employees, customers – are demanding action that will lead to lasting change. These timely tools can help any leader successfully navigate Us versus Them dynamics to create cohesive, productive and inclusive teams.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - THE FULL STORY</image:title>
<image:caption>Born in Tokyo, Japan to missionary parents, Laura Kriska spoke her first words in Japanese and took her first steps on tatami floor. When she was two years old, her family returned to their home in Columbus, Ohio, but her interest in Japan continued to grow. While earning her B.A. in Japanese Studies at Denison University, Kriska spent her junior year abroad at Waseda University in Tokyo and devoted most of her time to practicing judo. A week after giving the commencement speech to her graduating class, she was welding parts on the automobile assembly line of the Honda factory in Marysville, Ohio, as part of her training to work overseas. Two months later, she was in Japan —the first American woman to work in Honda Motor Company’s Tokyo headquarters.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - GLOBAL FRAMEWORK</image:title>
<image:caption>Based on her extensive experience with the US-Japan relationship, Laura Kriska developed a global framework for understanding cultural differences and expanded her training to apply to any multicultural group. Her success working in Asia, Europe, Latin America and throughout North America demonstrates the effectiveness of this framework in any cross-cultural setting. The goal of her work is to teach global professionals how to build trust across differences of any kind including age, race, nationality, religion and other identity factors. The WE-Building process was developed through her years of experience. Laura Kriska believes that as the global marketplace continues to grow increasingly diverse, the ability to interact effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds is a key factor for success in the 21st century.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Books - The Business of WE</image:title>
<image:caption>The central message of The Business of WE is that face-to-face interactions of increasing depth are the way to bridging any Us versus Them culture gap, whether these gaps are caused by differences in ethnicity, race, religion, gender orientation or any identity factor. The goal of this book is to provide tools and inspiration through first-hand stories of individuals and organizations who either failed or succeed to narrow that gap. The mission is to help readers recognize the urgent need to actively dismantle Us versus Them dynamics and inspire people to actively build a WE culture in so that people from various backgrounds are safe, welcome and productive.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Books - The Accidental office lady</image:title>
<image:caption>The Accidental Office Lady is an insightful, honest and personal account of a young woman coming of age in corporate Japan. When she was just 22 years old, Laura Kriska became the first American woman to work in the Tokyo headquarters of Honda Motor Company. The young red-head from the Midwest encounters many surprises in her new position. Undaunted by many unexpected challenges, Kriska overcomes all obstacles to become an insider in corporate Japan. Her fluency in Japanese and her deep affinity for the culture help her gain access to intimate and unusual situations. Through her friendships with her Japanese colleagues, Kriska begins to understand the intricacies of corporate Japan. She learns how simple word choice can show deference to someone more senior and discovers how listening, rather than speaking, is a way to demonstrate leadership. Using her new found knowledge, Kriska challenges the company culture and eventually succeeds in permanently changing a 50-year-old corporate policy.</image:caption>
